THE UPPER VALLEY CONVIVIUM
The Upper Connecticut River Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont is a unique bio-region
created by the Connecticut River; it is loosely defined to include the towns north and south of the
junction of I-89 and I-91. Our distinctive features include the Connecticut River, rolling hills, and
varied terrain leading East to the White Mountains in New Hampshire and West to the Green Mountains
of Vermont.
The new Upper Valley Convivium will focus on appreciating and embracing the local
food chain. We have a wide variety of farmers and food producers here, including dairy farmers,
cheese makers, orchardists, fruit growers, artisan bakers, organic vegetable growers, and producers
of grass-fed beef, lamb, pork, and free-range chickens. We hope to inspire and educate the local
community by encouraging them to think about their food sources, and prepare foods using honest,
appropriate methods.
